Westy's a dark horse...

Lindrick member and former world number 1 Lee Westwood proved to be the scourge of the bookies at Cheltenham.

‘Westy’ had a total of 13 winners, including a horse called Missed Approach, across the four days of last months’ festival, including all seven on the first day. Such was his prowess, The Sun newspaper installed him as a tipster for the remainder of the week.

He has amassed $34.3M in prize money during his career as a professional but his £128 stake on the Tote Jackpot on the opening day netted him a cool £20,678 when Mister Whitaker obliged in the last race.

Westwood has a share in over a dozen horses including Augusta Kate who finished well down the field in the Stayers’ Hurdle on the last day. The Willie Mullins trained 7-year-old mare is owned by The Masters syndicate which includes Westwood, Ant & Dec and Alan Shearer.
