Three in Top 100
GLORIOUS GANTON...
Three Yorkshire courses have been named in Golf Monthly’s top 100 in the UK and Ireland.
Ganton, Alwoodley and Moortown were selected in the November 2018 issue of the magazine but all three move down the list based on the rankings from 2017.
Ganton fell three places and is now ranked the 28th best course in the UK and Ireland with Alwoodley in 50th place (down 2 places) with near neighbours Moortown coming in 63rd spot (also down 3 places.) Ganton is one of only four courses to have staged the Ryder, Walker and Curtis Cups and winter golf is available from £200 per fourball.
The Ailsa course at Trump Turnberry Resort topped the list whilst the biggest improver was the Queen’s course at Gleneagles which moved up seven places in the rankings to 55th spot. Notts Golf Club (Hollinwell) was another top improver gaining four places and is now ranked 36th.
The wealth of wonderful golf available throughout the UK and Ireland prompted the magazine to create a list which they deemed to be closest to challenging the top 100 and although not ranked in order, Fulford, Huddersfield and Lindrick were all named.
