Like Arnie ... we'll be back!

Yorkshire's very own Matt Fitzpatrick closed out the strangest year in our golfing lifetimes with a stupendous second lifting of the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, in December.

Results among the trailing pack meant Fitz was narrowly denied a first Race to Dubai European Tour crown, as runner-up Lee Westwood snatched that honour for a remarkable third time.

As Yorkshire's fairways and greens are battered by a mid-January rainstorm, and clubhouse and locker rooms around the county – and country – stand empty, it's only our professionals who are enjoying anything resembling 'normal' golf.

But fear not – as soon as our clubs and courses open up, hopefully in coming weeks, Yorkshire Golfer will be back with a wrap-up the best of late 2020's action, plus a look-ahead to the fantastic prospects for the summer of 2021.

Chris Hanson and Adam Walker have exciting expansion plans for their super-successful 2020protour, while the county's tourism organisation Welcome to Yorkshire is forming a ground-breaking partnership to promote golf in the Broad Acres. This will include a new MacKenzie Trail series of events culminating in a repeat of September's inaugural Ian Woosnam Senior Classic at Ilkley Golf Club.

There will be news, views and, as ever, the best of club and county from Yorkshire Golfer, just as soon as we're all given the green light to return to our clubs and courses.

Hopefully, we'll see you soon!
