Garforth’s Jake Wallis introduced himself to his new USA collegiate community with a stunning record-equalling round of 63 in his debut tournament.

His college, Arkansas State, won the Golfweek Fall Challenge at True Blue Golf Club in South Carolina with the former Yorkshire Boys captain’s final round of -9 lifting him into individual 3rd place.

It included an eagle at the 4th hole and a hole-in-one at the 7th as he went out in 31 and home in 32, and equalled the college programme’s best ever round.

Hornsea’s Jack Maxey, who earlier in the summer won the prestigious Seaton Salver at Seaton Carew – ahead of Wallis in 3rd place – is a teammate at Arkansas State in his Senior year and finished in 5th place on -7.
